It took me a while to realise…
I have had a bit of a cold – the sneezing, bone-achy kind where you feel freezing even though the heating is on, you are wearing a jumper and a cardigan, leg warmers, and are wrapped in a blanket with a hot water bottle on your lap. Eventually I emerged from my cocoon, a bit disgruntled because I very, very, rarely get a cold.
It has left me with dry cracked lips.
It has also left me with what I could call a dull brain.
After a couple of days in bed and ignoring the mess in the kitchen, I finally decided to do something about my dry cracked lips, and I thought of buying some lip balm. There are various reasons why I don’t use Vaseline [yes, I know it is cheap as chips], but I have in the past bought stuff like Bert’s Bees or some frightfully expensive organic stuff, and they have all been very effective. I wondered where the best place to find a lip balm that was ethical/affordable/effective/local…
As I sat there, thinking something finally dawned on me…
In my Pharmacy [which is attached to my house] I have real bees wax, organic essential oils, extra virgin olive oil, and small metal lip balm containers. I have even written a Pharmacy module guide which explains the different ointments that you can make very easily for different things, several of which make excellent lip balms. All I have to do is walk through my door, enter my Pharmacy, melt the bees wax in some extra virgin olive oil [infused with my home grown calendula flowers], add some essential oil of my choice [it was Rose Geranium today], tip it into a container, and let it set. It is the work of a moment; or at least it won’t take long.
So that’s what I am about to do – I am going to play in my Pharmacy, doing something that is useful, and I will produce some lip balm this is ethical/affordable/effective and definitely local.
For some reason, I feel like I have scored a point over Amazon.
