I would like three lives running in parallel.

Life is too interesting…

When I wake up on a crisp Autumn morning, bright sun glinting on damp yellow and red leaves scattered in drifts on the edges of my garden, I want to go for a walk in the woods. I would take a flask of hot tea and a packet of ginger stem biscuits [Lidl’s are best]and have nothing to do but gaze across the valley to the mist shrouded hills, smelling the damp soft earth beneath my feet.

But I also want to be in the kitchen, with my Aga on, writing notes for one of the books I am planning in my new Leuchtturm notebook [available from Amazon] with my vintage Sarasa pens [ditto] on the kitchen table, while my sourdough bread rises, and the slow cooker is steaming with the hearty soup which would be ready in time for lunch. After lunch I would open Scrivener on my laptop [still by my warm Aga] and finish a chapter or three of one of the texts I have on the go.

Yet most of all, at the same time, I also want to be in my dispensary, making capsules, garbling herbs I grew in my herb patch and then carefully dried in my dehydrators. I want to stir melted bees wax into my infused oils to make chest rubs, be dispensing tinctures for my patients, and grinding up dried roots to make herb powders. I want to answer the door and say a cheery hello to my patients and work through their health problems together with them, advising on medicinal herbs and dietary changes, dispensing their tinctures, and mixing their special tea blends.

The answer to this problem of not having enough time for each strands of our lives is to do what Hermione did in one of the Harry Potter films; live two or three lives concurrently- but I am not sure how that works.

A substitute would be to buy some sort of Planner or download an online organisational system like Notion.

Trouble is, when I tried to use Notion, it took me hours to realise I didn’t know what I was doing, so I gave up. Maybe I ought to go deeper into how it all works.

Unfortunately, I think that would add another life to the three I already have going…
